For two years I’ve gone to the doctor over and over again, without receiving any help. I mean, they try to help. The problem is that their solutions never make my issues any better. All this time, I’ve had incremental bouts with debilitating respiratory problems. On any given day, I might wake up completely congested and unable to breathe. My lungs feel like they are swollen and unable to accept air. My mucus membranes feel dried up and inflamed. Generally, I force myself to get up and go to work anyways, and I’ll feel breathe easier by the end of the day. I’ve tried every over the counter allergy medicine you can possibly imagine, but nothing has fixed my respiratory distress symptoms. Then, the COVID-19 outbreak occurred. Suddenly, my breathing problems worsened, and the cause of my respiratory problems became crystal clear. It was obviously my heating and cooling system. When the shelter in place order started, I noticed that my lungs were more irritated than ever. I was at home all day, utilizing my central heating and cooling system, but it felt like I was breathing fire. Since I was never leaving the house and utilizing my company’s HVAC system anymore, I was perpetually trapped indoors with the same indoor air. I called-out a heating and cooling technician, who promptly checked my air ducts and found massive mold growth inside of my vents. This was the airborne contaminant causing so much trouble in my respiratory system. After a professional air duct cleaning and an air filter replacement with HEPA filters, I could finally breathe again. It’s a good thing, because I’m going to be breathing this clean indoor air for the foreseeable future and I can’t go see another doctor right now.
