When I was setting up my room a few months ago, I tried to do it very intentionally.
I mapped out the entire space and chose a deliberate spot for every item that I own.
I was really proud with the final results, and even allowed myself to buy some new furniture to improve the space. I absolutely love laying on my bed and looking at my kingdom with satisfaction. Well, at least I did… Until I looked up the other day and realized I had made a terrible mistake. Somehow, I had gone several weeks without realizing that there is an air vent stationed directly over the top of my bed, right where a human head would lay. Sure, this might seem like a great thing when you’re considering the delivery of ice cold air conditioned air in the middle of summer. I don’t deny that I sleep very well with the cool, fresh air streaming on my face. However, I also can’t stop having nightmares about animals and bugs living in my air vent. I keep waking up in a panic sweat, jumping out of bed so I can get away from the overhead air duct opening. You see, back when I was a kid I was once sitting on the toilet when tiny spiders started dropping from the ceiling. I looked up, and realized that they were falling from the air ducts through the air vents and into my hair. Overhead vents have been one of my worst phobias ever since. At this point, my nightmares have been so severe that I’ve completely sealed the air vent and installed a window AC unit in my room, instead.
