When I was setting up my room a few months ago, I tried to do it absolutely intentionally.
I mapped out the entire space and chose a deliberate spot for every item that I own.
I was absolutely proud with the final results, and even allowed myself to buy some current furniture to improve the space. I really savor laying on my bed and looking at my kingdom with satisfaction. Well, at least I did… Until I looked up the other afternoon and realized I had made a bad mistake. Somehow, I had gone numerous weeks without realizing that there is an air vent stationed directly over the top of my bed, right where a human head would lay. Sure, this might seem like a great thing when you’re considering the delivery of ice frigid air conditioned air in the middle of summer. I do not deny that I sleep absolutely well with the cool, fresh air streaming on my face. However, I also can’t stop having nightmares about critters and bugs living in my air vent. I keep waking up in a panic sweat, jumping out of bed so I can get away from the overhead ductwork opening. You see, back when I was a child I was once laying on the toilet when tiny spiders started dropping from the ceiling. I looked up, and realized that they were falling from the ductworks through the air vents and into my hair. Overhead vents have been one of my worst phobias ever since. At this point, my nightmares have been so serious that I’ve completely sealed the air vent and installed a window A/C unit in my room, instead.
